There has news about mass failure of students in this years WASSCE results which compelled the examination body WAEC to postponed the release of the results from 5th November, 2020 to today.

According to Kelvin Taylor, He Alleged to have cited a memo which clearly shows that the Ministry of Education and Ghana Education Service were in talks with officials of WAEC to massage the results to Suite the current government since it may embarrass them and would also cause them to loss the upcoming elections.

Contrary to that, The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has released provisional results of the 2020 West African Senior Schools Certificate Examinations (WASSCE).

“This follows the completion of all post-examination processes,” WAEC said in a statement on Friday, November 13.

“The results of the candidates will be dispatched to their schools”

Candidates have, therefore, been advised to contact their heads of school for their results.

The 2020 WASSCE began on July 20, 2020 with 375,763 candidates from 976 schools.

“The provisional results indicate that there were improvements in the performance of candidates at Grades A1 to C6 in English Language and Mathematics (Core) in 2020 as compared to 2019.

“On the other hand, Integrated Science and Social Studies recorded a decline in the performance of the candidates at Grades A1 to C6 as compared to 2019.”

WAEC says the subject results of 2,383 candidates have been cancelled for “engaging in collusion, bringing foreign material to the examination hall and tearing part of their question paper to solicit assistance”.

The entire results of 480 candidates have also been cancelled for bringing mobile phones to the exam hall.

The entire results of 384 candidates have also been withheld  pending conclusion of investigations into various cases of exam malpractice detected during and after the conduct of the examinations.
